I've been a little quiet lately on the Operators Edge front for a few reasons...but I can sum it up in one word - life.
After a quiet few months, it feels like everything blew up in August...ending with the start of school. In my house that means the start of another year of volunteering with the music booster group and marching band. On top of that, some personal life stuff piled on too - the kind of curveballs that don't care what else is on your plate.
But the show goes on, and for me that means music booster work. This year I'm using AI more than ever to help me with the booster group. My main responsibility started as social media chair, but that has morphed into most things technology. I'm the tech and AI lover in the group, so it was only natural that I'd end up with all of it. This is exactly what Operators Edge is about - using the right tools to make the work easier, not just for clients, but for a volunteer group too. Last year AI helped me write my social media posts. In addition to that, already this year I've used it to recreate an expense tracking spreadsheet. The old one was ginormous and hard to understand or update, so I built a simpler version with one transaction log that updates everything else automatically. AI also helped me build out some web pages for the booster group, so we could update the website with prettier formatting and fill in information that was missing.
So, did I pick the absolute worst time of year to start a business? Yes. But I think life will throw you curveballs no matter when you start something like this. And if a volunteer group can use this stuff to make their season easier, so can your business.
